DIY Cuticle Cream
Learn how to make DIY Cuticle Cream to keep your nails and hands healthy! Homemade cuticle cream is super quick and easy to make!
DIY Cuticle Cream
Dry winter weather can wreak havoc on your skin, especially your hands and your cuticles! Cold weather, along with other activities like gardening and DIY work, can cause your cuticles to become dry, crack, and split.
While at first it may seem like unsightly cuticles are solely a cosmetic concern, your cuticles actually serve an important job – they protect the growing nail bed from infection or injury.
Making sure that your skin and nails are healthy and hydrated is key if you want to keep them looking and feeling great!
Many commercial cuticle creams contain harsh chemicals that are designed to dissolve your cuticles, but removing your cuticles can actually be dangerous! Your cuticles are meant to protect your nail bed, and removing them can leave you prone to damage or infection. Instead of cutting or removing your cuticles, soften them with our homemade cuticle cream and gently push them back using an orange stick for optimal nail health.
What is Cuticle Cream?
Our DIY cuticle cream is a blend of all natural ingredients that will help promote healthy nails and skin. Cuticle cream serves two purposes: 1) To help soften your cuticles which will enable them to be more easily groomed and pushed back. 2) To moisturize and nourish the cuticles, nails, and surrounding skin by adding moisture and nutrients to the skin.
Ingredients Used to Make Cuticle Cream:
- Shea Butter
- Coconut Oil
- Beeswax Pellets
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Vitamin E Oil
- Sweet Orange Essential Oil
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Tea Tree Essential Oil
You will also need containers for the cuticle cream – we recommend these 2 oz. metal cosmetics tins or these 2 oz. plastic jars.
How to Make DIY Cuticle Cream:
There are two different ways that you can make this cuticle cream, as noted in the recipe card below. We recommend using a double boiler (the old bowl-in-a-saucepan DIY version works great!), but you can also use a microwave. Please note, however, that the microwave results may vary depending on the wattage of your machine.
How to Use Cuticle Cream:
Simply apply the cream to each nail cuticle and around the nail tips. Massage for 20-30 seconds, and then allow the cream to absorb into the skin for 2-3 minutes. Use an orange cuticle stick to gently push back each cuticle.
You may also wish to apply a small amount of cuticle cream to the cuticles and the base of your nails daily before bedtime to keep your cuticles soft.
Used regularly, this DIY cuticle cream will help keep your nails and cuticles hydrated and healthy!
